Abstract

Waste processing 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) is an approach or method of waste management that is relatively effective in reducing waste generation.  It is currently deemed necessary to use this approach or method in processing household waste processing.  Household waste processing in the Wanasari sub-village, Dauh Puri Kaja village, North Denpasar sub-district, Denpasar city so far still uses a conventional approach with a pattern of collecting, transporting and disposing of it.  This causes a lack of awareness, insight and skills in managing waste.  Therefore, the Nahdlatul Ulama Bali Institute of Science and Technology deems it necessary to carry out community service activities for the Wanasari hamlet in managing household waste.

The methods used in this community service activity are giving materials, distributing printed and digital information leaflets, and installing planks in crowded places regarding the importance of reducing, reusing and processing household waste.

 The results of community service activities are carried out in three stages, namely socialization, counseling and mentoring. Socialization activities: carried out with the intention of providing insight into the importance of waste processing, counseling: carried out to provide training in waste recycling skills and assistance;  carried out by distributing plastic bags to residents with the aim of reducing waste.  From these community service activities it can be concluded that the residents of Wanasari hamlet are relatively enthusiastic about these community service activities, so community service activities in the form of socialization, counseling and mentoring receive a good response even though participation in these activities is quite limited.
